When creating a form in WorkPal, you might come across the option to add a “Repeatable Field.” But what exactly is it, and when should you use one?

A repeatable field allows you to collect the same type of information multiple times within a single form. It’s particularly useful in situations where a question—or set of questions—needs to be answered more than once for different items.

For example:

Imagine you’re performing a maintenance check on multiple electrical panels throughout a facility. Instead of duplicating questions for each panel, you can use a repeatable section to streamline data entry.

You might set up a repeatable section with questions like:

  • Which electrical panel is this?
  • Are all breakers and fuses in good condition?
  • Are there any signs of overheating or damage?
  • Date of last maintenance check

When filling out the form, you can:

  • Enter the panel’s location or ID (e.g., Panel A1)
  • Select answers for each question (e.g., Yes, No, Needs Repair)
  • Add notes if necessary

Clicking “Add” will create a new set of these questions, allowing you to easily inspect and record details for Panel A2, Panel B1, and more. Each entry stays organized and clearly labeled for quick reference.

Using repeatable fields ensures your maintenance logs stay clean, easy to navigate, and adaptable as the number of panels changes.

How to add a repeatable field.

Adding a repeatable field to your form is a straightforward process. On the left-hand side of the page, you'll see a section labelled "Field Types", which contains a range of field options you can drag and drop into the form builder in the centre of the screen.

To insert a repeatable field:

  1. Locate the "Repeatable" field option.

  2. Drag it into the form where you would like it to appear.

  3. Give your repeatable field a title – this will act as the heading for the section.

  4. Within the repeatable area, choose and add the field types you'd like to include (for example, dropdowns, toggle switches, text fields, etc.).

  5. Customise the layout to suit your requirements.

  6. Click “Finish Repeatable” to create the Repeatable and place it on the Form.

For a step-by-step demonstration, please refer to the video below.

See the video clips below to see what the repeatable field will look like when it is being completed and what it will be displayed as when you are viewing the form.
